I thought this was a pretty good deal! I'm having some work done on my basement, so haven't disassembled or photographed it yet. Much of the bluing on the barrel is gone, there is some light surface rust and it badly needs cleaning, but it appears to be mechanically sound and locks up tight. When I bought it yesterday and looked up the serial number, I discovered that it is a first series, made in late 1908, with its original grips. Since I have a few early Colt's I thought I'd pick it up. After I got home I researched it a bit and discovered it was a Colt Officer's Model 38. ![]() ![]() A couple of days ago while visiting my favorite gun store, an interesting revolver caught my eye. I thought the Colt collectors out there would be interested in this.
